Sorry for the lack of updates here on this blog friends! If you're still following along, I will do my best to update once a week with what we're doing in Japan. I'm the communications person for my team, which means I write up blurbs and updates for our facebook page (Team Japan 2014) as well as the team photographer... so expect more action over here in the days to come!

Osaka, WEEK ONE

On Monday, February 24, 2014, our team of 5 people from YWAM Brisbane left for six weeks in Japan. For the first two weeks we are at the YWAM Osaka base. We spent the first couple of days getting acquainted with the are and handing out flyers to students for our first event. On Wednesday we had a chance to hang out and chat with a couple lovely ladies- and we had a great time dancing, laughing and trying to communicate with each other. On Thursday we had an event a local church, we were able to dance, share a testimony, play music and set up a photo booth to snap photos. We even had a short dance instruction time where Daniel taught everyone a short piece of choreography. Friday we boarded the train to travel to Osaka Castle and walk around a bit. A few of the fruit trees, including some of Japan’s famous cherry blossoms were in bloom and we were able to enjoy them! We ran into a young man from Sweden who we were able to spend some time talking to and sharing why we were in Japan. He was super friendly and kind enough to snap some photos of our group! From Osaka Castle we proceeded to hand out some flyers for a local church and grab some Japanese fast food for our supper. Our evening was spent a coffee shop in the city participating in an English conversation club. We all enjoyed some great conversations and were really excited to get to know some wonderful people; all while drinking some tasty coffees and cappuccinos! Our Saturday has been fairly low-key, we’ve spent the day cleaning around base, and I was able to take some photographs of the space for the base to use in promotional materials. Our Sunday is very full- we are performing a drama and sharing a testimony at a church, then we’ll be playing a live set of music at a cafe and helping to assist serving at a tea function. Its been a great week- each one of us are very grateful to be in Japan. The extremely big miracle of our funding coming through so we are all here together is a reassurance to us that God truly has a plan. As a team, we are continuing to pray and ask God what He has for us here- and are excited to see that unfold. Before coming, God placed the word and idea of bringing hope to the people here in our hearts and we have already witnessed Him moving in that area! We are excited for our next week and the things that are planned (and unplanned!) for us! Japan is such a beautiful country and the people are so welcoming. We’ve enjoyed learning some basic words and phrases, venturing into the shops and eating lots of delicious food! We are all trying to get used to the temperature change- we are drinking lots of tea, cocoa and coffee and wearing lots of layers! Thank you all for your support, through your prayers and thoughts and also to all of you who gave so generously and supported us financially. We are so thankful and couldn’t do this without you!
